Why The Whales Came

This is the 3rd cover that I designed for my first project this semester.  Once again its a print taken from an etched piece of wood (or in this case 3 pieces).  Its a story about the origins of a curse on Samson, a small island off the south coast of England.  As you can imagine it has something to do with whales...

Tell Tale Heart

This is the final print that I used to create a new cover for Tell Tale Heart.
Both the colour and the wood are integral to the story and hopefully you can tell that its designed to look like floorboards.

These are a few samples of the prints I made last week.  I'm a little bit disappointed with them but it was worth a try.  Some wood worked better than others and I've settled on and actual floor board for my final piece. I've got a few little ideas that will hopefully improve what I've already managed to produce so fingers crossed.

Tell Tale Heart

*Hopefully* this is the image I will be using for one of the book covers I'm redesigning for my current project.  These 3 are just test samples, etched into different wood types to help me decide which one will be the way forward. I'm going to take some prints from these and then focus on putting all the elements together for the final cover.  Fingers crossed it all works out well. VERY excited to see how they turn out tomorrow!!
